Assistant Project Manager - Civil Engineer

We are seeking Assistant Project Managers who can help with the planning and execution of large scale construction projects. Successful applicants will be involved with scheduling, billing, coordination, quality control, field supervision, and engineering, among many other aspects of this field. If you are a detail-oriented professional with a knack for construction and an engineering degree, we encourage you to apply for this position. No other experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, conduct material inspection, and quality control on projects;

  • Conduct material inventory, budget allocation, contract deviation design, and management processes;

  • Create advanced scheduling on projects;

  • Track deliveries of materials;

  • Review MPT plans;

  • Review change orders and designs;

  • Schedule client meetings relating to design concerns and cost options;

  • Understand the bid, conformed drawings and specifications;

  • Understand the processes of testing pits, trenching, excavation, soil testing for various foundations and sheet piling;

  • Detect and troubleshoot environmental hazards and remedies in water with high asbestos concentration in manholes and vaults at railroads and other projects;

  • Assist in the design, construction, fabrication and quality assurance of cable bridges and other similar construction designs;

  • Construction management including handling various construction documents, creating submittals according to the required specifications;

  • Analyze discrepancies between drawings and existing field conditions to submit reports for requests for information (RFI);

  • Assist in developing and updating the project schedule;

  • Conduct earned value analysis, cost estimation, material takes offs and construction management using software such as Primavera, Microsoft project, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.

 

Skills / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Good work ethic

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Engineering or Construction experience a plus

  • Must travel to project sites throughout NYC
