EL 701 Completes Elevator Replacements at Coney Island–Stillwell Av Station
EL 701 is now in service at Coney Island–Stillwell Av Station, marking the 34th elevator commissioned under the 37 Elevators Project and restoring full ADA accessibility at the station.

Delivered by the Forte–Gramercy Joint Venture alongside the MTA, Lead Designer Stantec, and the Naik–STV JV PMC team, EL 701 serves the N-line platform and provides access to the station's overpass, connecting riders to the D, F and Q lines.
Positioned between two tracks on the elevated platform, the elevator replacement involved significant structural improvements within the existing hoistway and station maintenance yard. Teams constructed scaffolding beneath the elevated elevator pit to support the replacement of structural steel and installation of new concrete. Additional scaffolding was installed around the hoistway during scheduled General Orders to facilitate the replacement of the existing glass enclosure.
Work also included improvements to the existing structural framing to enhance water resistance, installation of fire alarm conduits and wiring, and upgrades to elevator equipment. Close coordination with the MTA and project team throughout construction supported the successful delivery of these improvements, further enhancing the station's infrastructure and accessibility for riders.
