Forte was awarded the MTA project, Design Build Services, for 19 Elevator Replacements at Various Stations. The scope of work includes replacing nineteen elevators at subway stations in the boroughs of Queens and Manhattan. In addition, the project requires a separate long-term elevator maintenance contract to provide for long-term reliable maintenance of the new elevators.
This multi-million dollar project includes removing all existing equipment within each elevator machine room (EMR) and replacing it with new equipment. There also will be performance modifications to the elevator hoistways, leveling any uneven floor surfaces and performing other work as necessary to ensure the new elevators meet current ADA requirements. There will be an ADA-compliant path of travel to each elevator.
The scope also includes performing state-of-good repair work near the new elevators, within the elevator hoistways, and the EMRs, including removal of graffiti, repairs to structural elements, repairs to finishes, and remediation of water damage. Lastly, all the existing communication systems, such as CCTV cameras, fire alarm systems, and intercoms, will be upgraded, and new communication screens will be provided within the elevator cabs for customer assistance.
