Forte Construction is proud to celebrate the commissioning of elevators EL186, EL187, and EL188 at Fordham Road Station, serving the 4 Line in the Bronx. As part of the 37 Elevator Replacement project, this accomplishment was achieved through the Forte-Gramercy Joint Venture and close collaboration with the MTA, the design team at Stantec, and the PMC team at Naik-STV JV. These hydraulic elevators now serve the largest elevated station under this contract, located above the busy intersection of Fordham Road and Jerome Avenue.
Bringing these elevators into service called for innovation and coordination across all collaborating parties. Using boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other heavy equipment, the team expertly installed glazing, conduits, and communication systems high above the busy streets. Elevator numbers 11, 12, and 13 for the project are now fully operational.
Fordham Road Station is a shining example of teamwork, ingenuity, and dedication — delivering greater accessibility to New York City commuters and celebrating another proud accomplishment for the 37 Elevator Replacement project.
