The two escalators at 53rd Street and Lexington Avenue Station are open to the public. A total of four escalators underwent replacement under the NYCT pilot program (EcoMod), involving the retrofitting of the existing truss structure with new escalator components.
This is another milestone toward the MTA Replacement of 12 Escalators project. We're incredibly proud of our hardworking team for their dedication and effort. This project includes replacing twelve escalators across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. We are committed to enhancing the reliability and safety of New York's transit system.
