Building on Babylon’s Success, Two Stations Enter Active Construction
Forte is excited to announce that construction has officially begun at both Hollis and Forest Hills LIRR Stations, marking significant progress in the Long Island Rail Road Station and ADA Improvements Package 2 project. Hollis and Forest Hills are the remaining two stations of the three that are part of this project.

Coordination Progress Across Two Stations
Both Hollis and Forest Hills Stations are following similar, carefully orchestrated schedules that prioritize service for passengers. This synchronized approach allows our team to maximize efficiency while ensuring the stations remain open to the public for peak hours.

Phase 1: Platform Reconstruction
The current phase focuses on the west half of Hollis Station and east half of Forest Hills Station for both north and south platforms. By concentrating initial work on these sections, the remaining portions of the platforms remain fully operational, helping to minimize impacts on commuters throughout the construction period.
What’s Happening Now:
·       Demolition: Careful removal of existing Phase 1 platform sections
·       Foundation Work: Installation of new micropile foundations to support the new precast concrete panels
What’s Coming Next:
·       Installation of precast panels to create the new, extended platforms
·       Integration of modern amenities
·       Implementation of enhanced ADA accessibility features
As a designated historic station, Forest Hills also carries special importance, calling for a careful blend of contemporary upgrades and the conservation of its architectural legacy.
Looking Ahead
With Phase 1 of Babylon Station completed and both Hollis and Forest Hills now in active construction, the LIRR Station and ADA Improvements Package 2 is progressing full steam ahead! Forte Construction, alongside lead designer AECOM and all integral subs, are excited to keep the momentum going.
