The Forte-Gramercy Joint Venture successfully placed Elevator EL325 at Canal Street Station into service — 16 days ahead of the project milestone date. Serving riders on the 6 Southbound Local line, EL325 is the 18th elevator commissioned under the 37 Elevators Project bringing the project closer to its halfway point.
Work at this station included the full elevator replacement, replacement of the glazing mylar film, painting of kiosks, and rerouting of storm water drainage piping away from the elevator pit.
Throughout construction, the Forte-Gramercy JV maintained close coordination with the MTA, lead designer Stantec, and Naik-STV JV PMC team. Regular progress meetings and advance scheduling of service outages and General Orders kept the project on track and ensured seamless communication across all parties.
