Progress is in full swing at Babylon Station as Forte Construction, in collaboration with Lead Designer AECOM, MTA Construction & Development (MTA C&D), and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), moves through the final phase of platform reconstruction. Commuters can look forward to a modernized station with a platform reopening anticipated just before Memorial Day 2026.
All structural steel for both platforms is now complete, creating a solid foundation for the next phase of upgrades. Installation of canopy cladding is underway, while mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are being finalized for the new ceilings. Escalator trusses and balustrades are in place, and stair construction continues within the main plaza level, all helping to shape a more modern station.
Elevator shaft construction is progressing, with installation of the two new elevators now underway. Along with the two new escalators, these accessibility upgrades will make traveling through Babylon Station easier and more convenient for all riders.
Recent achievements highlight the steady pace of progress, with precast platform setting completed in late February, followed by continued advancements throughout March including canopy steel erection and permanent power cut-over. With these milestones behind them, the project is on track to deliver a safer, more modern, and fully accessible station just in time for the summer commuting season.
