Our 19 Elevators Project continues to make strides! Forte Construction, the MTA, and Lead Designer Goldman Copeland are proud to announce the commissioning of two more elevators. Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Ave, Elevators 420 and 423, are officially in service and were delivered on schedule.
These elevators serve the 7 Line, improving accessibility and convenience for thousands of daily commuters. Elevator 420 connects four stops, street level, lower mezzanine, intermediate mezzanine, and the upper platform. Elevator 423 provides service between the mezzanine and the 7 Line platform. These elevators represent the 9th and 11th elevators commissioned for this project.
Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Ave ranks among the top ten busiest stations in the NYCT system, serving over 15 million riders annually. Its extensive transfer activity between the E, F, M, R, and 7 lines, along with connections to multiple bus routes, creates a level of movement and energy that rivals the city’s largest hubs.
All inspections for these installations were completed smoothly and on time. Safety remained the top priority for our team, who worked with precision and coordination to protect riders and pedestrians throughout construction in this active transit hub.
The continued success of the 19 Elevators Project is a testament to the collaboration and dedication of the PCEO, PMC, MTA, Goldman Copeland, and Forte Construction, who together continue to advance accessibility and enhance the transit experience across New York City.
