Queens Plaza Elevators: EL 428, 429 & 430 Commissioned

Momentum continues for MTA Contract E34054, and Forte Construction is proud to deliver another exciting accomplishment. In a joint venture with Gramercy Group Inc., and in collaboration with Stantec Consulting Services, and the MTA, our team successfully commissioned Elevators 428, 429, and 430 at Queens Plaza.

This project is a citywide design-build initiative focused on replacing 37 elevators across 17 stations throughout New York City. The initiative delivers on the MTA’s commitment to accessibility, safety, and modernized transit infrastructure.

The Queens Plaza installation was executed efficiently and on schedule, thanks to the dedication of all teams involved. Some of the most notable achievements included the installation of structural steel, elevator canopy, and cab; all completed with precision. A unique aspect of this project is the dual elevator pits separated by steel grating, a feature that demonstrates the complexity and craftsmanship required that makes these accomplishments possible. In addition, the integration of the glazing system, combined with the steel work in the pits, set this accomplishment apart from others in this project.

Each new installation builds on the lessons learned, and the experience our teams gained from previous elevators played a critical role in the successful commissioning of this station. Close collaboration during the testing and commissioning phase with the MTA, PMC Naik Group, our joint venture partner Gramercy Group Inc., and Stantec Consulting Services was key to ensuring the elevators were placed into service efficiently and safely.
