Forte Construction is committed to giving back to the community, and we encourage our employees to do the same. Three years ago, we launched the "Staff Picked Charity Contest" to foster a spirit of philanthropy within our organization. This initiative empowers employees to nominate their favorite charities and explain why they are meaningful to them. Entries are judged anonymously, and the winner is chosen based on the individual's personal connection to the cause and the persuasiveness of their nomination. The winner is announced on Giving Tuesday, and their chosen charity receives a $10,000 donation.
This year's winner is Girl Scouts of Greater New York's Troop 6000, a groundbreaking program that serves families living in temporary housing in the New York City shelter system.
Each week, Girl Scouts meet in shelters across the city to engage in activities that help them forge new friendships, earn badges, and develop their leadership skills. Forte Construction's donation will provide these girls with uniforms, badges, and other essential supplies. Donations are also used to fund field trips and other enriching activities, train and support troop leaders, and offer scholarships to girls who cannot afford to participate in Girl Scouts.
The task of selecting a winner was no easy feat this year, given the multitude of compelling submissions we received. In addition to our primary contribution, we are thrilled to announce additional donations of $2,500 each to two remarkable charities:
Kulture City creates sensory-friendly environments and promotes inclusion for individuals with invisible disabilities.
Alzheimer's Foundation of America supports research and innovation to find a cure for this devastating disease.
We extend our gratitude to all participants who shared their passion for diverse causes and thank our employees for being the driving force behind our philanthropic endeavors. We have been truly inspired by the incredible organizations that make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need.
