The MTA Systemwide Escalators project successfully completed its first milestone. The early installation of escalator 308 at Dekalb Avenue finished five days ahead of schedule!
This project involves the demolition and replacement of two escalators at DeKalb Avenue Station and two escalators at 161st Street - Yankee Stadium Station. It also encompasses the installation of new fire alarm panels and devices, removing and replacing all escalator equipment in each machine room, and replacing the sprinkler piping systems for each escalator.
We commend the dedicated and hardworking individuals who contributed to achieving this milestone. We look forward to continuing our efforts on this significant project to enhance the reliability and safety of the transit system for all New Yorkers.
