In joint venture with Gramercy Group Inc., and in collaboration with Stantec Consulting Services, Forte Construction proudly commissioned two new elevators at the 66th Street–Lincoln Center station. Elevators 237 and 238 were placed into service on June 29, 2025.

These installations mark the fifth and sixth elevators placed into service as part of MTA Contract E34054—a citywide design-build initiative focused on replacing 37 elevators across 17 stations throughout New York City. This contract is part of the MTA’s broader commitment to accessibility, safety, and modernized transit infrastructure.

Bringing these elevators into service was no small feat. The 66th Street station presented several unique challenges, particularly around communication systems and spatial constraints. Expanding the elevator machine rooms to fit modern equipment required close coordination and creative problem-solving from every team involved. Through a high level of collaboration and persistence, our teams delivered.

These elevators don’t just represent improved infrastructure—they make a meaningful difference to the community. With Lincoln Center, Juilliard, and Fordham University close by, the station serves thousands of students, staff, and visitors daily. The new elevators offer full ADA accessibility, ensuring that everyone has reliable access to the subway system.
