The full 12-car platforms at Babylon Station are now open to riders—a significant milestone in the ongoing station and ADA improvements at one of the Long Island Rail Road's busiest commuter hubs, delivered two weeks ahead of the contract-required Memorial Day opening.

Forte Construction, in collaboration with Lead Designer AECOM, MTA Construction & Development (MTA C&D), and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), reconstructed the platforms in two phases while maintaining uninterrupted train service throughout construction. As the last stop on the Babylon Branch and a key connection point for commuters traveling to and from the Montauk Branch and eastern Long Island, restoring full 12-car capacity here marks a meaningful step forward for the thousands of commuters who travel through it each day.

The reconstructed platforms deliver new precast concrete systems, an integrated automated snow and ice melting system, new canopy structures, and upgraded lighting—replacing aging infrastructure and advancing the station's long-term modernization and accessibility goals.

Phase 1 addressed the western half of the platforms, and Phase 2 followed with reconstruction of the eastern half. Ahead of Phase 2, the team commissioned two new ADA and stretcher-compliant elevators ahead of schedule, ensuring the station remained fully accessible to all riders without a gap in service.

Work at Babylon Station continues, with remaining scope including additional elevator and escalator work, communications and security upgrades, plaza-level improvements, ADA upgrades, signage, lighting, and architectural finishes. The progress at Babylon reflects the strong collaboration between Forte Construction, AECOM, MTA C&D, and the LIRR—and the team's commitment to delivering lasting improvements for the commuters who rely on this station every day.
